Rebuilding  Pointe - au - Chien

Nearly 3 years after Hurricane Ida ravened the Tribal lands of the Pointe-au-Chien Indian Tribe, many have yet received the opportunity to rebuild. Numerous Pointe-au-Chien Tirbal citizens live on ancestral land, excluding them from receiving rebuilding opportunities. Our citizens' only hope to rebuild comes from other Non-profit organizations to aid in this process. Lowlander created their own casework on the community to help and assess the need to rebuild. With the help of the Lowlander Center, In August of 2023 Mennonite and Amish volunteers came into our community to assist in rebuilding. As of July 18, 2024, one home has been rebuilt and another is nearing completion. This is just a start at bringing secure housing to our Tribal citizens, but more funding is needed to continue building fortified homes for our Tribal citizens. Below is the link to the website where you can find more information on the rebuilding efforts and a link to donate.
